A flat tire is the worst one can fear during their most awaited road-trip or while traveling long distances. There is no guarantee or way to predict a flat tire, but there are many ways you can prepare for the worst.
Before changing your tires you need to ensure a few things so they can keep you safe during the process. Make sure your car is parked safely on the side if you have a flat tire on a highway or busy road; try to park your car in a safe way. Ensure you stabilize your car as well so it doesn’t roll off, turn on hazard lights and block your front or rear tires (depending on which tire needs a change) with a brick.
Once you have your safety list checked off, you can start changing your tire! Here is how you can do it in 3 easy steps:
Loosen the lug nuts on the tire with the help of a rotating wrench in a star pattern making sure you don’t take them off entirely.
Lift your car using a jack. Unfasten the lug nuts completely and place them aside safely. Remove the wheel and tire with your hands carefully and put it under the car, just as safety measures in case the jack dysfunctions.
Attach the spare tire and tighten the lug nuts in place in the same star pattern like before. Fully tighten the lug nuts using your wrench as per car specs. Slowly lower your car till it stands on its own.
There you have it! Your tire is changed in just 3 easy steps. This is a skill that can come in handy wherever you go and is in fact quite easy to implement.
